internationally [2]. The New South Wales (NSW) trauma system was introduced in 1991, and has been formally monitored since 2002 [3]. Following the trauma system implementation, NSW trauma centres (referred to as major trauma centres) receive higher volumes of trauma and currently admit more trauma patients than any other state/territory in Australia due to its greater population size [4]. In NSW, major trauma centres are funded using the find more episode funding model.
