No local recurrence or distant metastasis was detected in the other four patients. Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma of the

spine is so rare in clinic as a primary aggressive vascular tumor. Based on our experience, a valid expanded resection of the tumor with adjunct radiation therapy or total en bloc excision may present with acceptable results.”
“The Clock Drawing Test (CDT) is a cognitive screening tool used in clinical and research settings. Despite its role on the assessment of global cognitive functioning, the specific cognitive components required for test performance are still unclear. We aim to assess the role of executive functioning, global cognitive status, visuospatial abilities, and semantic knowledge on Shulman’s CDT performance. Fifty-three mild cognitive impairment, 60 Alzheimer’s dementia, and 57 normal elderly controls performed the CDT, the Frontal Assessment screening assay Battery, the Mini-Mental State Examination, LY2835219 in vitro the Stick Design Test, and a naming test (TN-LIN). An ordinal regression assessed specific neuropsychological influences on CDT performance. All the cognitive variables were related to the CDT, accounting for 53% of variance. The strongest association was between the CDT and executive functions, followed by global cognitive status, visuospatial processing, and semantic knowledge. Our result confirms the multidimensional nature of

the test and the major role of executive functions on performance.”
“Graphene displays promising features for biosensing applications. Electrochemical https://www.selleckchem.com/screening-libraries.html impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a very sensitive, label-free technique that is ideally suited

to be coupled with a graphene platform.

We discuss recent advances of graphene-based platforms for impedimetric genosensors and immunosensors. We also provide an overview on EIS and the preparation of graphene by different methods, which exhibit strong influence upon the function of the biosensor. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. “Intramedullary + extramedullary hemangioblastomas with largely extramedullary growth are rare and often incorrectly assigned as intradural-extramedullary tumors preoperatively. Preoperative evaluation of the precise tumor location is important for total resection of tumor and improving the surgical outcome. The aim of this study was to provide the first identification of the key differences among of preoperative MR images of hemangioblastomas in different locations and to correlate these with pathological findings. The subjects were 26 patients with surgery for spinal hemangioblastoma in our department, including 6 with an intramedullary tumor who were complicated with von Hippel Lindau disease. Intramedullary, intramedullary + extramedullary, and intradural-extramedullary tumors were present in 22, 3 and 1 cases, respectively.
